Our founding story

It started with a baby who couldn’t sleep
That baby was my youngest daughter, and she was struggling with chronic eczema. Determined to help ease her discomfort, I began researching fabrics—ultimately leading me to rayon made from bamboo, an incredibly soft, breathable material designed for comfort.

We became obsessed with the fabric
Not only is our rayon made from bamboo fabric incredibly soft, it’s breathable and designed for all-night comfort. As soon as we started dressing her in it, my daughter stopped waking up in the night to pull open her little PJs—and we both started sleeping a little easier.

We made it a family affair
Originally hailing from China, I pitched the idea of Kyte Baby to my industrious Aunt Ling. She had worked her way up from a sewing girl to the owner of a garment factory in a small town of Southern China. But due to rising labour costs, she struggled to keep her workers during off season—workers who were like her second family.
She said to me, “Babies are born year-round, right?” Why, yes, they are! We realized Kyte Baby could make more than just sleep bags—we could help keep her factory running year-round, supporting the people who made it all possible. And so, Kyte Baby was born, built on a commitment to caring for our community.
The Name
Like the whimsy of flying a kite on a blustery day, our name is an homage to childhood: The innocence, freedom and fun of returning to nature—and it inspires everything we do at Kyte Baby.

The Kyte Baby Family
We’re parents, too
Kyte Baby may have started as one mama on a mission, but we couldn’t do what we do today without our team—a diverse group that includes parents and caregivers around the world, including our headquarters in the US, our manufacturing facility in China, and our team members in Canada and other countries.
Our Values
We care about people
As a brand made by parents, for parents, we bring that same care to everything we do—listening, improving, and giving back to the community that made us who we are.

Giving back is part of who we are. Each month, we support organizations making a meaningful impact in our community.

Our product development team works closely with our manufacturers and suppliers, frequently visiting each of our factories, along with their supply chains, to personally ensure good working conditions and fair labor practices.

Our fabric scraps never go to waste—they’re either used to make our littlest products (hello, bibs!) or donated to a local mop factory for their production.
